Ancient Corinth, Argolida, Mycenae via Isthmus of Corinth & Nafplion
Driving over the Isthmus of Corinth admiring a masterpiece of engineering we will head to the ancient Corinth which was the wealthiest city-state in all the ancient (Greek) world. The city was built at the foothills of Acrocorinth which was serving as a lookout against the city’s potential enemies.
Next stop … Mycenae, the home of one of the most important civilizations, the Mycenaean.
The Cyclopean Walls of the Citadel of Mycenae, the Underground Water system with the ornate stairs, the beehive tombs, the grave circle A and the golden funerary finds, the palace atop the citadel, the Lion Gate are just pieces of the magnitude of the Mycenaean civilization.
